Doce fuegos Biography
Miguel Palou’s career began in his native Seville, around Pylar (an Iberian reference of experimental metal), and expanded through multiple projects and collaborations ranging from Dronespell & the Omega Chord to Spagyria, among others. An incessant stream of work to which he has gradually added his own references such as Doce fuegos: Several demos, two splits with Run Arbos («Eco ermo») and with Misa tridente («Garrote vil») respectively, and two other albums with which Palou has managed to stamp his unique and non-transferable musical imprint. As we can enjoy at both «El templo de las cuevas» (Sentencia, 2021) and «Vita brevis» (Sentencia, 2022), the music of Doce fuegos is experimental, explicitly conceptual and articulated through a language of its own that incorporates attributes of folk, medieval and orientalist dark-wave, as well as post-rock, drone, ambient or field music, without forgetting impressionism and baroque music. Violin, mandolin and percussion of various kinds accompany Doce fuegos in his recitals. In them, the artist currently based in Asturias is able to weave an abstract canvas against which we project our imagination. Exploring, playing with diverse motifs and meanings, whether provided (through the lyric that accompanies his work) or appropriated (contemplating his improvisation), we satiate our intuition with meaning until we sketch an idea that will be both individual and shared at the same time. That is to say, cultural and collective.
