Oh doom! Biography
Through their indie, post-hardcore, post-rock and grunge influences, Oh Doom! released their debut EP, I Fear This Is The End - four quiet/loud songs of sad harmonies sung over melancholy arpeggios with peaks of distorted hope rising from despair - in July 2024.
Louder Than War said, ‘Every now and again a band / group hit me in the face with some exemplary music like this…A stone cold classic debut from a band that have everything to be massive.’
Amplify The Noise said, ‘Reflective and invigorating…emotionally rich and energetically engaging.’
Click Roll Boom said, “Oh Doom! have crafted something truly distinctive and elaborate with this track. Their artistic vision and sonic depth signal a promising future for the band as they continue to explore and expand their sound.”
And ANR Factory described the music as, ‘Mind-shattering crescendos, cinematically constructed by distorted walls of noise, powerful enough to reverberate right through you.’
Opener, We Lost Our Friends, begins as a frenzied attack before slowing to lament on departed loved ones. The EP’s remaining songs, Someone Else, their debut single All Our Songs Are Slow and Sad, and Other People’s Happiness, are different takes on failing relationships.
The band members, Phil, Shaun & Assad each bring their own influences and perspectives. Phil, under a pen name, is a novelist. Shaun is a semi-pro wrestler. In his earlier days, Assad was a Lebanese pop star.
Oh Doom! recorded their EP at Backland Studios with Chris Barn and have since hit the road to introduce new audiences to the band. Their energetic, cathartic shows leave them breathless and perspiring. And they’re picking up fans fast – Oh Doom! t-shirts are increasing in the audience with every show.
