About this concert
Here's The Steeple Here’s The Steeple is the musical handle of multi-instrumentalist Dan Walters. Distinctly northern, Dan has lived most of his life in Teesside and West Yorkshire, where he has developed a reputation for intricate guitar textures and soaring, soulful vocals that warm you up like a good cup of tea. His music draws on a range of folk-related influences, from the singer-songwriter stylings of Laura Marling to the experimental folk of Rachael Dadd. “Really gorgeous” - Emily Pilbeam, BBC 6Music “Really beautiful” - Rozi Plain “Bloody fantastic!” - Adrian McNally, The Unthanks Hevelwood Like an archival image dragged through an old photocopier, Hevelwood takes folk stories both ancient and new and overlays them with fuzz and uncertainty. Hevelwood, alias of Tim Woodson, straddles the world of traditional and acoustic folk and electronic indie. A Leeds-based producer working with traditional song, he has released 2 EPs of folk song interpretations and his debut LP Of Greatness Receding was released in Autumn 2023. The record features traditional English folk songs and originals, setting stories of power and resistance in lush production, biting percussion and abrasive textures that disintegrate on touch.
