About this concert
Diva Double Feature!! Reserve your tickets here: https://grandriversevent.ticketspice.com/heart-bridge-a... Just prior to the Giuliani-led cleaning of New York City, a club in the Bowery called CBGB was the epicenter of a revolution in popular culture which would be given the sobriquet, New Wave. With an aesthetic mixing DIY punk, Warhol-esque postmodernism, and the full embrace of synthetic technology, a subversive movement was quickly going mainstream reaching peak influence with the emergence of MTV. One pioneer musical act that received global attention was Blondie, fronted by Debbie Harry, whose stage personality projected a cinematic charisma, “ME Generation” sexuality, and an unmistakable feminist iconoclasm. Their music channeled an eclectic mix of disco, reggae, punk, funk and hip hop. Call Me Blondie is an ensemble dedicated to recreating the sound and the vibe of Blondie’s music. Originating in Lima, OHIO, this act will take audiences back to the dawn of the Reagan era when image and fashion ruled pop culture. https://www.soundskape-entertainment.com/call-me-blondie Second-wave feminism significantly shaped all cultural institutions in the 1970s-80s. In music, it created the idea of pop diva, enabling women to wield power of self-determination and usurping masculinity to attain the highest levels of success and influence. The androgynous era created opportunities for women to front the most prominent acts of the FM radio/MTV Era. Among the highest profile acts was Heart, fronted by the Wilson sisters from Seattle. Though many women flaunted sexuality, the Wilson sisters instead managed to keep songwriting as their priority and have produced a remarkable catalogue of artistic expression maintaining envied technique in musical delivery and integrity in their standards of production. This repertoire is respectfully explored by Lima, Ohio’s Heart Brigade. Audiences will enjoy the popular hits performed with the same vocal and instrumental energy as the original recordings..
