Growing up between San Diego, San Francisco, and Austin, Luke Nassar first began writing music and lyrics early in high school. While studying vocal music at Southern Methodist University, he created Blue Apollo, the band that brought his music to stages across Texas. Early shows were successful as a fan base quickly solidified on SMU’s campus and within the local music scene.
Their first EP, "Light-Footed Hours," was produced by Matt Noveskey at Orb Recording Studios and released in April 2016. Success of this first record and early performances quickly opened doors to bigger shows including opening for Nelly at Moody Coliseum Dallas, American Aquarium at Trees Dallas, Lawrence at Gas Monkey Dallas, and Cherub at Rhodes College Memphis. The EP was also added to rotation at 67 different CMJ radio stations across the country.
Blue Apollo's final EP, "When You Ask for Rain," was produced by Chris Grainger in Nashville, and released in September 2018. To celebrate, they headlined a show in the Cambridge Room at House of Blues Dallas.
Luke spent 2019 writing music in Nashville, but had since stepped away from music.
Resurfacing in Austin, Luke joins a veteran group of local musicians:
Steven Tyson - Guitar [Law by The Gun]
Maxx Greta - Bass
Reed Hoffman - Drums [Oreja & Law by the Gun]
Will Gilstrap - Keys
Dynamic vocals can reinvigorate classic covers from Stevie Wonder and Al Green; while organic instrumentation provides a fresh take on modern pop hits from Justin Bieber or LANY. Sourcing pop and country influences from Dan + Shay to John Mayer, Central Coast now looks to bring a mature pop sound to stages across Austin.
