About this concert
Passepartout Duo’s work investigates the way in which we listen to and connect with sound. Reassessing the tools they use to create their music, the group is continually developing a specialized and evolving ecosystem of handmade musical instruments, including their electromagnetic synthesizer called Chromaplane. The group, formed by Nicoletta Favari and Christopher Salvito, has been on a nearly continuous world tour ever since they began collaborating in 2015. https://passepartoutduo.com/about-us Open Union Electric guitar and modular synth duo made up of composer-performers Peter Bell and Patrick Ellis. Described by treasured composer Howard Skempton as being, 'sometimes subtle and unstable; sometimes rich and dense', the duo aims to build up strong collaborative relationships to create new verbal and text-based works. Their current collaborators are Christine Cornwell, Wilson Leywantono, May Chi and Paolo Griffin. The duo have performed at UK events Ealing Extranormal, AMOK, Don't Mind Control, Birmingham Modular Organisation and CODA Festival, and in 2023, undertook a mini-tour of The Netherlands as part of the Sounding Here concert series at Splendor in Amsterdam and Batavierhuis in Rotterdam. https://soundcloud.com/open-union https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbzHzc_x4NlqN5bhtP_qMAg https://www.peterbellmusic.co.uk/open-union/ + Hedge Priest

Passepartout Duo Biography

Passepartout Duo’s work investigates the way in which we listen to and connect with sound. Reassessing the tools they use to create their music, the group is continually developing a specialized and evolving ecosystem of handmade musical instruments that have ranged from analog electronic circuits and conventional percussion, to room-size textile installations and found objects.

The group has been on a nearly continuous world tour ever since they began collaborating in 2015, and their experiences traveling have heavily influenced their unconventional creative process.
