Big Shrimp Biography
Big Shrimp, the young and hungry quartet formed in 2024 and based in Bridgeport, CT, delivers a unique blend of masterful, high energy guitar work and well-crafted songwriting. Their extensive repertoire includes over 100 original songs that balance complexity with a straightforward appeal.
The band builds on the foundation laid by its now inactive predecessor, Baked Shrimp. The musicians in their mid-20’s have performed at major festivals like Peach Music Festival, Summer Camp Music Festival, Northlands Live, and Mile of Music, and have shared the stage with notable acts such as Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead, The Disco Biscuits, Dopapod, Twiddle, and Andy Frasco & The U.N.
Big Shrimp’s songwriting has been featured on Spotify’s "Modern Jam Band" editorial playlist, with tracks like “Chop Suey” and “Can’t Cut the Mustard.” Their latest live compilation album, The Prawno Tapes Vol. II, showcases both new original material and inventive covers such as "Elmo’s Song" and "Ain’t No Sunshine." Looking ahead, the band is preparing for a new studio album and an extensive tour in Spring 2025.
The official launch of Big Shrimp in 2024 included the revival of their signature festival, LonCon, at Wonderland Forest in LaFayette, NY—a celebration of live music, art, and community. They also honored their new roots in the Fall with the "Black Rock Special" residency in Bridgeport, featuring six donation-based performances, each themed around different musical and culinary shrimp specials, with proceeds benefiting local Connecticut charities.
With fresh energy and a focus on growth, Big Shrimp is poised to continue making their mark in the jam and progressive rock scene.
