Whitecross Biography
Whitecross's “Fear No Evil” marks an epic return, showcasing the formidable lineup of founding member Rex Carroll on guitars alongside long-time stalwarts Michael Feighan on drums and Benny Ramos on bass. Introducing new lead vocalist David Roberts, the classic-feel album contains some surprises. While Rex brings out the mandolin for a Zeppelinesque “Blind Man,” “Wishing Well” boasts ELO-style orchestration by John Lawry and Beatles-style backing vocals from John Schlitt to elevate the sonic landscape further.
In this first all-original album since 1996, Rex Carroll's songwriting reaches new heights, steadfastly focusing on gospel themes across the album's eight classic hard rock tracks. The ferocious guitar work, a hallmark of Whitecross, finds renewed strength, complemented by Michael and Benny's robust rhythm section. David Roberts's vocals add a fresh, dynamic dimension, echoing the traditions of Plant, Coverdale, and Dio.
In a bold move, three songs, including the collaboration with Petra members John Lawry and John Schlitt on “Wishing Well,” explore the acoustic side of rock, injecting fresh elements into the familiar Whitecross sound, demonstrating their commitment to evolving while staying true to the core that resonates with fans.
The album benefits from the mixing and mastering talents of Anthony Focx. The unanimous agreement is that “Fear No Evil” achieves a new pinnacle of punch and clarity, making it the loudest Whitecross album to date. The technical dimension enhances the experience, ensuring the album stands out in the contemporary music landscape.
Three years in the making, “Fear No Evil” is not just a comeback; it's a sonic resurgence, a testament to the band's enduring prowess and commitment to pushing boundaries. Whitecross fearlessly blends familiar with new, crafting an album that resonates with longtime fans and newcomers alike. It's a celebration of the past, present, and future of Christian Hard Rock, with “Fear No Evil” leading the charge."
