Kilpi

The heavy metal band Kilpi rose to prominence in Finnish metal music in January 2003 with the release of their single Nerokasta ikävää, which quickly gained radio airplay. The band, founded in the summer of 2002, released their debut album Sähkönsinistä sinfoniaa in May 2003, following three singles, and the album reached Finland's official charts.

In 2004, Kilpi released their second album, II Taso, which solidified the band's position in the Finnish metal scene. This album also made it to the official Finnish charts, and in 2024, it will mark its 20th anniversary. A remastered version of the album is available on all streaming services. Since then, Kilpi has released four more albums: Kaaoksen kuningas (2006), IV (2008), Pirun merta (2009), and Juggernautti (2015).

Kilpi is particularly known for their Finnish lyrics, which often address personal themes such as life, death, and relationships. The band’s sound is strongly influenced by traditional heavy metal, and their music has been praised for its energetic and precisely played combination of guitar riffs and vocals.

Known for their intense live performances, Kilpi continues, after five years, right where they left off. True to their style, Kilpi brings their signature blend of traditional heavy metal, bad humor, crappy jokes, and authentic Finnish heavy rock – always staying true to their unique path.
