About this concert
Kelli created The MomCore Show to showcase both her music and its comic underpinnings. Alternating between Kelli’s performance of her rock and roll compositions accompanied by her band (Gerald Dowd, Liam Davis & Leslie Beukelman), some of the city’s top comics (Eunji Kim, Casey Alltop, Meg Johns, Bridget Frodyma and Marla Caceres) use the proceeding song’s subject matter to create comic improvisation. A set of stand up comedy by Eunji Kim and Chelsea Hood opens the show.
The next performance of The MomCore show is on Feb 15th at Fitzgerald’s in Berwyn, IL

Kelli Owens Hutton Biography
Kelli Owens Hutton made a record called Soccer Trophy and in the process created a genre called MomCore. Soccer Trophy is brutal truth. Two minute guitar driven rock and roll songs about children, middle-age, marriage and all the shit. It’s also funny, revealing and moving.
Kelli partnered with Grammy-nominated (in children’s music, but still...) producer Liam Davis. They made the record in her Chicago home studio, aka the laundry room. A multi-instrumentalist Kelli played every instrument except the drums. Ok, she played bass on like half the songs too.
A Berklee College Of Music grad and major-label wash out (Atlantic records but who’s counting) Kelli took a long time off making music to raise her kids. They are a pain in the ass but she loves them anyway. The Dog of course comes first. Somewhere in there is also her husband.

The latest holiday single “Christmas Is Coming” was released 11/25/24.
“Gimme Gimme Gimme Gimme (Sex Tonight)” will be released for Valentine’s Day and the full record Soccer Trophy will be released in 2025.
