About this concert
Andrew Swift is returning to arcobar this April for an Exclusive Melburne Show A loveable bard of the road, a soulful troubadour, a heavily tattooed mountain of a man with a penchant for touring in tiny caravans – Andrew Swift is many things. Embraced whole-heartedly by Australia’s country music scene, Andrew Swift's musical background speaks to an unexpectedly diverse journey. A shuffle played, genre-defying, jukebox of wild assortment - Swift’s creative resume covers not only country sub-genre staples such as Americana and bluegrass; but also power-pop, punk-rock and indie. A far cry from the fully formed, self-assured sweetheart of Tamworth we know and love today. And yet, once aware of this smorgasbord of creative influence, it’s hard for the listener to un-hear the coming together of unbridled grit and pop sensibilities punching through the soaring melodies and proficient songcraft. Swift’s curious nature has arguably influenced his output. 2018’s #1 ARIA Australian Country debut Call Out For The Cavalry launched Swift as an undeniably accomplished storyteller. Touring the album that spoke of Runaway Trains and Reckless Desires, Swift hit the road ferociously with some of the biggest names in Australian country. Sharing stages with The Wolfe Brothers, Catherine Britt and Shannon Noll to name just a few, Swift continued to hone his craft picking up new influences along his travels. With 2018's Call Out For The Cavalry scoring Swift two CMAA Golden Guitars, his latest album The Art Of Letting Go has gained Swift a further two nominations, for Male Artist of the Year and Alt-Country Album of the year, at the 50th CMAA Golden Guitar Awards in 2022 and has already racked up four top 10 singles, 2 CMT #1s as well as debuting #1 on the ARIA Australian Country chart and #25 overall genres and was the 5th highest-selling Australian Country album of 2021. *Supported by Dakota East*

Andrew Swift Biography

With 3 ARIA #1 albums and 3 CMAA Golden Guitar Awards to his name – most recently Male Artist of the Year 2023 – Andrew Swift is one of Australia’s most discerning storytellers.
His debut album, ‘Call Out For The Cavalry’, earned him a whopping 4 Golden Guitar nominations in 2019 – not bad for an upstart – from which he took home gongs for Alt Country Album of the Year and New Talent of the Year.

His sophomore effort, ‘The Art of Letting Go’, came three years later, after a signing with ABC and a whirlwind of touring alongside some of the genre’s biggest names - The Wolfe Brothers, Catherine Britt and Shannon Noll, to name a few.

The new record became the 5th highest selling Australian Country Music album in 2021. Hits like ‘Head Full of Honey’ and ‘Say The Word’ spun light-hearted stories of courtship and calamity through a sonic lens that pushed the boundaries of the genre.

Swift’s forthcoming album, ‘Lightning Strikes and Neon Nights’ - slated for release on April 28, 2023 - is his most daring yet. Produced by the incomparable Matt Fell (Troy Cassar-Daley, Fanny Lumsden), it mixes Swift’s signature grit with retro soundscapes and contemporary rhythms.
Despite his meteoric ascent he’s immensely passionate about helping those following in his footsteps. It’s this same compassion that earned him the mantle of official ambassador for Gundagai’s Dog on the Tuckerbox.

Both a wayward vagabond and a sweetheart, his songs brood on gut-wrenching heartache and revel in limitless joy. He’s a master performer and one hell of a guy.
