Goldrush Biography
Goldrush is a rock band built on raw energy, infectious riffs, and a timeless blend of alt-rock influences. Formed in Austin, TX at the tail end of 2023, the group is fronted by Greg Warns (vocals, lead guitar), with Kevin Parmley (drums), Logan Dubek (rhythm guitar), and Michal Witek (bass). Their sound sits somewhere between the grungel of Nirvana and the anthemic power of Oasis, with hints of The Strokes' cool edge and The Black Keys' gritty blues.
Greg, the band's primary songwriter, has been compared to Tom Petty—but with a harder punch. The comparison initially was brushed off, but soon, it became the perfect shorthand for the hard-hitting riffs and catchy melodies that fuel Goldrush’s music. “Tom Petty, but if it went harder” is now their unofficial tagline.
The roots of Goldrush run deep: Greg and Kevin had been playing in bands together for over a decade before moving to Austin, where they continued their musical journey. Kevin made the first move in 2021, and on his first night in the city, he met Logan at a rehearsal. Their connection was immediate, and they quickly became inseparable both as musicians and friends. With Logan and Kevin already locked in, Greg followed suit, making Austin his home and joining forces with the duo. For a time, the trio performed under Greg’s name, jamming through his catalog of original songs and the occasional Gary Clark Jr. cover.
It wasn’t long before they found the final piece of the puzzle: Michal, a seasoned bassist and guitarist with a knack for bringing fun to the room. With Michal rounding out the lineup, Goldrush was born. The band's chemistry was undeniable, and it didn’t take long for them to make waves in Austin's vibrant rock scene.
Their debut show at Mohawk Indoor in January 2024, celebrating the release of their single "Only Expectations," marked the beginning of their rise. Since then, they’ve been steadily dropping singles like “Same Way Too,” “Let You Down,” and “Coming Clean.” Fans are eagerly anticipating their debut album, set for release in Spring 2025.
In the meantime, Goldrush has made a name for themselves with their monthly residency at Rustic Tap on West 6th Street—catch them live on the first Saturday of every month as they continue to build their fanbase and electrify Austin with their signature sound.
