Melafrique Biography
Melafrique is an Afro-fusion band formed in Edmonton, in 2016. The name Melafrique is a condensed form of the term "Melanin from Africa". They play a variety of genres: Jazz, R&B, Neo-soul, Reggae; in combination with different African styles of music. They hope to inspire the world with good music, in every sense of the word 'good'. Through music, they express their identities musicians, and all the other identities that they each come with.
They have performed at many stellar venues including the Starlite Room, Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, Winspear Centre, Festival Place, among others.
In 2019, they performed on Titilope Sonuga's sophomore album Swim, and they released their debut single, Not Alone, in 2020.
