Outdoor venue, on the George Mason University SciTech campus. Crooked Sparrow is a Northern Virginia-based trio fusing Americana with musical traditions from Texas and Latin America. One of Arlington Magazine Local Musicians and Bands To Check Out Now. Award winning songwriting by Valeria Stewart and Kevin Dudley is accompanied by beautiful violin work by Jenny Smith. Valeria is originally from Argentina and her songs transmit Latin, folk, jazz, and Americana sounds. Kevin hails from Texas and brings a bit of western swing, blues, and deep soul to the mix. Expect a gumbo of roots music from both Americas... North and South... and in between

Valeria Stewart Biography
Valeria is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina and grew up in the DC area. She has been performing in the DMV area for over 13 years and has a trio called Crooked Sparrow, with singer-songwriter Kevin Dudley and fiddler Jenny Smith. Valeria’s songs have a blend of latin, folk, jazz, and Americana roots sound. Her first EP ‘The Alchemist’s Journey’, as part of a duo called Luna, was released in 2020. Recent highlights: Valeria’s song Por Que was chosen for the Finalist award for the Vocal Jazz-Blues category in MASC 2021 by the Songwriting Association of Washington and it was also a weekly winner for the 2021 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. A co-write, New Miner’s Blues, with Kevin Dudley, won First Place in the Americana category in the 2021 International Songwriting Contest, and their other cowrite Yellow Flowers won Honorable Mention in MASC 2022 in Americana.
