About this concert
Israeli clarinetist Itay Dayan has long been fascinated by old sources of Jewish music. So when the 1927 "Hoffman Book" became available to the public in 2023 he knew this was his chance to explore new possibilities for klezmer music. "Hoffman's Farewell" is Itay's latest project, staying true to the old klezmer style and repertoire while pursuing new and contemporary creative directions.
"As in any good Jewish drama, Dayan’s album has as many laughs as there are somber moments amidst some good old fashioned chaos." Miri Villerius, Oyer
Joined by some of today's most promising klezmer musicians, Itay and the band will be touring the east coast this fall, playing in Northampton, New York City, Philadelphia, DC and more.
Rebecca Mac - fiddle
Mattias Kaufman - accordion
Ben Friedland - bass
