After leaving France in a smouldering, postcoital ruin, Gentle Ben turn their sights to the east coast of Australia to unleash their new album, ‘Brut’.
Gentle Ben returns to business with an album that joins the very select club of absolute masterpieces ... The melody, the orchestration, the voice… It’s breath-taking... haunted and elegant at the same time … lyrically packing a punch the record is littered with Regret, Bitterness, Tragedy, Redemption.
The Brisbane haute couture swamp rockers played at a former tobacco factory under a big-top, in a 14th century pub, in front of 10,000 fanatical French fans at Binic and will be hitting the road in September to sojourn Naarm, Taungurung Country, Gadigal and Meanjin.

Australia’s Gentle Ben and His Shimmering Hands formed, Ship of Theseus style, from the remnants of sultry rock and roll group Gentle Ben and His Sensitive Side (sporting a strong family resemblance to blood-soaked amphetamine swamp-rock stalwarts SixFtHick). With new crew, new songs and new focus, they bring you a blistering live show and their genre-defying album “BRUT”.
The themes of BRUT range from a fraught, taught exploration of the broken bodies, hearts and minds of our capitalist hellscape (“Spices”) to wailing rock and roll eulogies (“De Bliksem”, “No Encore”), a drifting death-country ode to colonialism (“Five Stars”) to bloody kitchen sink drama (“Tactical Empathy”).
