D.on Darox & The Melody Joy Bakers Biography

D.on Darox has performed solo, on many stages and streets, across the United States; until finally ending up in Southern California in 2009, where he met like minded players who share his passion and contribute to his musical vision. Known as D.on Darox & The Melody Joy Bakers. They are a 7 piece band that plays original music combining roots Americana, Gypsy swing, and a New Orleans vibe (trying to contain them within a genre is damn near impossible, imagine Gypsies running a muck in New Orleans and you'll understand the kind of party this band strives to throw at their shows). Some of the sounds you will hear at their shows include Trombone, Trumpet, theremin, accordion, upright Bass, sousaphone, banjo, guitar, piano, various percussion, drums, yelling, screaming, babies crying, clapping, foot stomping, and whatever else they can find to make noise with! A few memorable tours recall playing Autsin's SxSW, and French Quarter Fes in NOLA. Not only have they shared stages with the late great Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, the Misfits, and Black Joe Lewis, but have opened for other great acts such as The Legendary Shack Shakers, and The God Damn Gallows;. In the summer of 2015 they also completed a tour where they had the pleasure of opening for Reverend Horton Heat, and Merle Haggard for a festival out in Nashville TN. DISCOGRAPHY: Their first album, Agonizing, Sad Beauties was self released in April 2012 and labeled "the perfect soundtrack for the new Depression,"via the VC Reporter, who also awarded them 2nd place in a vote by the Ventura County community for Best Local Music Recording (E.G: http://www.vcreporter.com/cms/story/detail/best_of_entertainment/11257/). Their second full length album, "Tango", was self released August 2013. Recorded all analog on 2" tape and was mixed by Nick Luca at New Monkey Studio Van Nuys CA, and mastered by JJ Golden of Golden at John Golden Mastering in Ventura CA. Dirty, Gypsy, Blues with a taste of New Orleans.
