Het Frans-Belgische duo ‘Bipolar Bows’ ontstond uit een studieproject van cellist Toby Kuhn en violiste Lotte Remmen, maar groeide snel uit tot een klasse-duo. Zij brengen een mozaïek van klassiek en traditional, jazz, blues en funk, van Balkan tot Appalachia Folk, doorspekt met improvisaties uit de diepste hoeken van hun creatieve zielen. In februari 2021 wonnen ze de eerste Flanders Folk Awards in de categorie ‘beloftevolle band’. French/Belgian collaboration Bipolar Bows was created by violinist Lotte Remmen and cellist Toby Kuhn as a study project, a challenge to explore as many musical styles and technical tricks as they could get their hands on. In 2019 they decided to take their work to the stage, resulting in a mosaic of classical and traditional, jazz and funk, tunes from the Balkans to the Appalachians, mottled with improvisations from the deepest corners of their curiosity-driven brains.
