About this concert
Jackson Holte & The Highway Patrol are a five-piece rock and roll band in Western Montana. Along with Holte, The Highway Patrol are Adin Kloetzel on keys, Eric Rudnick on guitars, Brody Montgomery on drums, and Marko “The Midnight Shadow” Capoferri on bass. They formed in 2017 over a shared desire to blend the high lonesome sound of Western music with the deep groove of American rhythm and blues.

Jackson Holte Biography

Jackson Holte is a singer-songwriter based in Livingston, MT. His first solo record, Sky Blues, is an account of a decade spent horseback in the backcountry of the Northern Rockies.

Holte has released two albums of original songs with his Missoula-based rock band, The Highway Patrol. He has also performed and recorded with Newlyweds, Gooseberries, The Western Family Band, Jimmy Timbre, and Marcedes Carroll. His songs appear in the feature film We Burn Like This and have been performed by jazz ensembles at Colorado State University. He took 2nd place overall in the 2024 Wyoming Singer-Songwriter Contest.

Sky Blues is cinematic folk music, a loosely autobiographical concept album centered around what Marilynne Robinson called "the attentive quiet at the center of Western life" and Tom Edwards called "the hush of the land." The twelve collected songs are patient, spacious, contemplative, rarely sympathetic, devotional, alluring, unadorned. They raise the questions of the dispossessed in a search for a sense of place, finding only echoes ringing between the land and the sky.

Recorded at the Free River Studios in Livingston, MT with co-producers Jamey Warren and Shaun Carrier (The Lucky Valentines), mixed by Warren and mastered by Jon Neufeld (Kung Pao Chickens, Jackstraw, Martha Scanlan). The record was tracked over a weekend by a band of close friends in Carrier, Hope Radford (Jimmy Timbre, Hope Grove), Adin Kloetzel (Sterling Drake, Barncat Country Band), Marko Capoferri (The Highway Patrol, Sterling Drake), and Brian Tremper (Jimmy Timbre, Tuesday Tuesday). The ensemble is augmented by session players Jeffrey Foucault, Eric Heywood (Son Volt, The Pretenders), Bethany Joyce (Red Onion Purple), Tyson Gerhardt (Dusty the Kid, Ma’am), Lacy Hotchkiss, Scott Martin, and Jamie Carrier (The Lucky Valentines).

Sky Blues will be available in 2025. Holte will continue to tour in the winters and spend his summers in the mountains.

“Jackson Holte writes spare, laconic, sky-wide songs.” – Jeffrey Foucault

“Daunting, but also somehow cleansing.Music worthy of the wide landscape it’s painted on.” – Tom Catmull

“Sky Blues is a collection of heartfelt writing that listens like a true lived experience. Holte’s style is a nod to Lyle Lovett but with a voice all his own.” – Christy Hays
