Field Trip

FIELD TRIP is the name multi-instrumentalist Zach Wagner chose for his psychedelic recording project amidst the eerie stillness of New York City’s pandemic lockdown in 2020. During this time, he immersed himself in demoing songs inspired by themes of perpetual escapism, introversion, and a collage of phrases overheard in the streets and during train commutes. After relocating to PA, the solo recording project evolved into a band, with Nick Lowry on drums and Dillon Snyder on bass.

Sonically, Field Trip’s unique brand of dream pop blended with psych rock is enveloped in clouds of shimmering lo-fi textures anchored by gigantic syncopated drums. Wagner’s airy, filtered vocals dreamily float above a lushly layered instrumental landscape below. Atmospheric and ambient, yet poignant and raw at just the right moments, Field Trip develops an innovative vastness of sound without losing their grounding in closeness.
