Alex Cecil Biography
A mainstay in the Miami and NYC underground scene, Alex Cecil is esteemed for his ability to meld a myriad of diverse, musical strands into incredibly unique sets notable for heavy basslines and dark but uplifting melodies.
Recently featured in DJ Mag for his remix of Miss Nine’s “Drifting Away”, Cecil performs every year at Burning Man including several notorious sound camps such as DISTRIKT. His prowess with the cello —an instrument he’s played since age 7 — gives him his unique take on performance, composition and transition. Cecil’s debut techno single “Alpha Lupi” charted at #1 and he quickly followed up on this success with multiple top 10 releases on labels such as 925 Music, Lost On You, Rvdiovctive, Deep Playa and Parallel.
His sets tell a story from beginning to end, with a surprise here and a surprise there. It’s the kind of trouble you crave. A quiet troublemaker, a mastermind of mischief — always scheming with a smile on his face. Lovable, menacing and undeniably talented.
You may have heard him spin at legendary New York venues like Output, Pacha and Cielo — or around the world in Paris, Aspen, St. Barth and of course his second home — Miami. Being featured on events for Teksupport (Gather), Elements, Fr_sh Air, Why Not Weekend, BangOn!, Members Only, and IFEEL he’s shared the bill with the likes of DJ Tennis, Maceo Plex, Bob Moses, DJ Three, Agoria, Art Department, Paco Osuna and Stacy Pullen amongst
others.
Some call his style “a playful warehouse attitude” and some say it’s “horizontal disco.” One thing’s for sure, his original music and DJ sets will transport you to a colorful and exciting rollercoaster of sound and emotion.
