Two rising-star acts bridge British and South-Asian cultures and musical styles, from hip-hop to Bollywood, in this edition of our free fortnightly gig series. Saloni is a British-Asian singer/songwriter whose original music and remixes have an eclectic mix of pop, R&B and Bollywood, bringing both her Eastern and Western worlds together. Although she was born and raised in the UK, Saloni keeps her roots close to her heart, singing in many genres and over ten languages, and showcasing the beauty of South Asian culture to the rest of the world. British-South-Asian collective 916 have garnered their own unique sound, blending elements of R&B, hip-hop and soul with records such as ‘Wants & Needs’ and ‘Nuisance Interlude’, 916 have since built further anticipation for a full length project with their most recent release ‘I Spy’. They performed at the Titan Festival in 2022 alongside Lloyd, Ludacris, and Jon B, and airplay on prominent platforms such as BBC Asian Network and Kiss FM. This event is presented as part of South Asian Sounds and takes place at the Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall Foyer.

Saloni Biography

Singer-songwriter Saloni has been working on her highly anticipated EP, ‘Rani’, over the last two
years, blending five of the 11 different languages she can sing in. Within days of its release, Rani
reached #1 on the UK iTunes Worldwide Genre Charts and had a successful launch event
attended by over 200 people, including prominent British Asian figures like Arjun, Mumzy
Stranger, and representatives from BBC Asian Network, Lyca Radio, Sunrise Radio and more.
Moreover, on October 31st, 2024, Saloni won Music Artist of the Year at HSBC’s Ethnicity
Awards, where she was nominated alongside mainstream icons like former One Direction
member ZAYN, Raye, Emile Sande, Jay Sean and more. These accolades reflect Saloni's growing
influence as a powerful voice in British Asian culture.

Based in Milton Keynes, Saloni’s music is an eclectic blend of Pop, R&B and Bollywood, bringing
both her Eastern and Western world’s together. Saloni’s versatility allows her to sing in many
genres and in over 10 languages. Saloni has been featured on media outlets such as BBC Asian
Network, NOTION, Eastern Eye, B4U, Rolling Stone and more. Saloni’s viral track ‘Nee
Gundellounna’ has garnered over 5 million views on social media, officially trending on
Instagram and Shazam and #16 on the Official UK Asian Music Charts. This virality led her to
over 2M Spotify streams. Saloni’s last few singles also landed on Spotify UK’s New Music Friday
playlist and many other editorial playlists, as well as being playlisted on BBC Asian Network.
Notable performances at venues like OVO Arena Wembley, and esteemed festivals including
BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend and Godiva Festival underscore Saloni's rising prominence in the
music industry.
