About this concert
BLUE DOGSThe tale of the Blue Dogs begins in South Carolina, where two lifelong friends formed a band that is now revered for their feel-good original songs, upbeat shows, and an effortless blend of rock, pop and country. That story continues with Big Dreamers, their long-awaited first album in 16 years. Produced by accomplished guitarist Sadler Vaden, whos been a fan of their music since he was a teenager, the collection solidifies the Blue Dogs as one of the states most beloved and enduring bands. Founded in 1987 and based in Charleston, the group is still led by songwriters Hank Futch (bass) and Bobby Houck (lead singer, acoustic guitar), who grew up together in Florence, South Carolina. For this project they were joined in the studio by guitarist Dan Hood, steel guitar player Charlie Thompson, and longtime drummer Greg Walker. Meanwhile, former member Phillip Lammonds co-wrote three of the new songs, making Big Dreamers feel like a full circle moment. THE CONNELLSThe Connells, one of North Carolinas most successful indie rock bands, have new music on the way for the first time since 2001. Theyll break their recording hiatus with Steadmans Wake, a new 11-song album that will be released September 24th, 2021.DILLON FENCEThe core of rock n roll band Dillon Fence is the very same group of college students that formed the band in 1987 singer/guitarist Greg Humphreys, guitarist/singer Kent Alphin, and bassist/singer Chris Goode.Their self-released debut EP, influenced by southern jangle pop and british alternative rock, was a hit on southeastern college radio and heralded an ascendant Chapel Hill, NC music scene. Great show. Johnny Irion was good. Dillon Fence was fantastic. Thought The Connells played with good energy. Surprised at some songs they played and some that were left out. Running Mary was awesome. The whole encore was rocking. Travelled 12 hours to see them after having been a fan since 1991.
