Eclectic Electronic artist/DJ, Stara sets herself in a league of her own as a true entertainer, creative all-rounder and real force to be reckoned with as she arrives with a distinct vision to create art that is out of the ordinary. Influenced by her brother’s Hip Hop and Rap playlists when she was young, as well as new school R&B, 'Dark' Trap, Alternative Sounds and South Indian Classical during her teens; Stara has crafted a unique soundscape that borrows from many musical realms and comes together in one complex melting point. Her music has burst out passionately and powerfully, portraying her philosophical beliefs, fascinations and social rants with a dark, eerie and mysterious feel that make her creations one-of-a-kind. “I want to push myself and I want to break boundaries,” she says. In 2016, Stara took out the iHeartRadio and The Edge 96.1 national DJ competition in Australia and received an exclusive studio and mentoring session with the legendary, multi-platinum selling duo, The Chainsmokers. Growing up in Sydney, one of the most memorable achievements for Stara was placing 3rd at the Showcase National Dance Championships in Queensland. “Hip Hop dancing is what really made me fall for music and the stage by performing at so many community events and major competitions as an ambitious kid, through to my teens. For that reason, music is something that I feel internally and externally as an outlet through dance which plays a huge part when I create my version of Electronic music.” Stara’s supreme work ethic and versatility has driven her to complete as much of the creative process as possible by herself. “I need to be extremely hands-on during every aspect of creation, mostly because I want my work to be as authentic and real as possible.” With this powerful vision, Stara formulates highly intricate and intriguing artistic concepts for her music through extensive research and planning, acting as the sole producer, songwriter, vocalist, choreographer, visual director and editor at most part. “I receive so much happiness from making music and art that I feel on a spiritual level and sharing it with like-minded people. I don’t care if you can dance to it or just vibe with it. If I love it, I want you to hear it,” she says. As a full scholarship student at the University of Sydney, currently battling her way through her final undergraduate year, her free time lays fairly low when you combine it with a passionately driven music career. But when she does, she is either glued to F.R.I.E.N.D.S (Chandler and Ross are tied #1), a random conspiracy theory documentary or potentially submerged in a pool of vegan tacos. All that aside, her extreme obsession with planes remains the standout. “Firstly, I could go plane spotting all day. Secondly, the science behind a plane amazes me. I mean, you’re flying at 900 km/h on average, around 11 km up in the air and just going about your own thing inside like eating, sleeping or watching a movie. It seriously boggles my mind.” She describes herself as a “total nerd but kid at heart.” Stara is really looking forward to her creative vision come to life vividly in her upcoming projects. Her debut single, ‘NUMB3R5’ (CHAPTER 1) independently released in September 2016, has reached over 220k streams and gained significant radio airplay across stations in Australia, the US, Canada, Russia and France. Just a few of months into 2017, she released her follow up singles, ’10 YEARS’ (CHAPTER 2), ‘2 BROWN’ (CHAPTER 3), ‘THE 6TH SENSE’ (CHAPTER 4) and conceptually gripping, self-directed music videos which forced COMPLEX AU to feature Stara as “one to watch this year.” Anticipating the release of her debut EP and US tour announcement very shortly, Stara leaves off, “I’m not here to mess around. This is one hundred percent who I am. I’m really focussed to be the best I can be.” Stara has clear goals and a concise plan to grow her career and make her music available to international music consumers. She is now under the wing of elite US based management company, Arrow Music Agency after recently signing an exclusive worldwide management deal. This new union will help build the Stara profile internationally creating diverse opportunities.
