idaBjörg Biography
In her own vibrant style, idaBjörg sets the tone and generously shares her musical tales with listeners. The interplay of contradictions, be it auditory or human, fascinates and inspire the songwriter and artist, whose Icelandic and East European roots add flavors of fragility, drama, intimacy, and grandeur to her musical universe.
The soundstage is a mix between Tina Dickow, Hozier, and Fia.
idaBjörg is an experienced performer, and she always skillfully engages audiences with her intense and authentic touch.
Guitar in hand, idaBjörg delivers her sincere songs at intimate shows, sometimes spiced with effects that allow her to create beautiful layers of vocal harmonies. When taking the big stage, she brings along talented musicians, opening her songs and giving them a new, powerful expression.
After graduating from the rhythmic conservatory, being backing vocalist in Ea Philippa, Alain Apaloo’s Api Pipo and with Dawda Jobarteh, and releasing the critically acclaimed albums “Uden manual” as one part of the pop-electronic duo Genspejl and “Pygmæen Pigwi og stemmen der blev væk” with vocal ‘n drum group Skrubberne, Ida Björg plugged out of Copenhagen and into Aarhus. Building a family and a new band simultaneously.
As a solo artist idaBjörg released the EP “idaBjörg” 2015 followed by the album “What to do to feel good” in 2018 and five singles "You Make Me Proud to Be a Woman” 2021, “Clearing” 2021, “Moon” 2022, “Half the Human Race” on March 8. 2023, “Phoenix” on World Mental Health Day, 2024.
Latest release is the EP"You Make Me Proud to Be a Woman”, celebrating bold and courageous women and womanhood.
