About this concert
An evening of stories and songs with Fred Eaglesmith & Tif Ginn. ● Doors open 30 mins prior to show ● We sell Ramblers, sodas and coffee & Charcuterie Plates ● BYOB - $10 fee per group Fred Eaglesmith can talk to you about almost anything. Chances are, he’s had that car, tractor, job, relationship, idea, and hat. But throughout his life and experiences there’s always one thing that’s remained the same his undeniable gift for writing a song. Aspiring songwriters and performers of all ages call and write Fred with questions on how to have a career like his and what can he say? Start writing songs when you’re 10 years old. Grow up with poverty, agriculture and religion and 8 siblings. Run away from home. Hop freight trains. Start a business. Lose a business. Struggle to get any gig. Drive to Nashville with no money & pockets full of songs. Get a record deal. Lose a record deal. Win a Juno. Break down on the side of the road every day for days on end. Become a cult hero and amass a following of selfproclaimed “Fred Heads.” Tour relentlessly. Become everyone’s favourite. Becomes nobody’s favorite. Follow your gut. Smarten up. Don’t care what anybody thinks. Be fair. Be loyal no matter what. Keep going. Soften up. Give people a break. Expect nothing. Give everything. Keep going. Allow yourself to be happy. Find out who you are & deal with that. Don’t stay in fancy hotels. Write good songs. After all these years touring USA, Canada and Europe – having his songs covered by some of the biggest names in music, and appearing on “The Late Show” with David Letterman – the enigmatic, countrified, Rock n’ Roll troubadour: Fred Eaglesmith, is carrying on with musical wife Tif Ginn! Eaglesmith is a veteran of the music industry and at the same time is about as far away from actually participating in today’s music industry as one could be. Never operating within anyone’s boundaries, he continues to set the standard for independent artists everywhere. Tif Ginn is a gutsy, amazing singer and a transcendent songwriter who has spent most of her life touring and playing music. Her impressive, sultry vocals and glorious harmonies with Fred, along with her multiple instrument additions to the show will have you in awe. This girl has it all Including Fred! https://fredeaglesmith.com/

The first I saw Fred Eaglesmith was approximately 30 years ago. I was playing drums with the Leslie Spit Treeo back then. We were the opening band, somewhere near Kitchener. At the time, Willie P. Bennet and Washboard Hank were playing with Fred. I had never heard of him and was wondering who on earth we were opening for. At the time, the Spits were headling most places this size, so I was wondering why we were opening for these guys I had never heard of? Well, from the moment they started, I was blown away. I spent every dollar I had on me that night for a bunch of his cd's and was an instant fan. (Funny side note, Pat Langner fell asleep that night on the couch backstage with a cigarette in his mouth. The pillow caught on fire as well as a section of the couch! I joked for weeks that I saved his life)! I've seen Fred Eaglesmith live at least 10 times since then, and it's always a great show. But last night was amazing. What a great backing band, Tif Ginn and Fred were on fire. It was a special night at Uxbridge Music Hall. Saying that, I think every show with this particular group of musicians will be a special night. If you are a fan of Fred Eaglesmith, Tif Ginn, or live music, you must go see this latest incarnation of the band.

Fred Eaglesmith Biography

Frederick Elgersma - son of an immigrant family from the Dutch province Friesland. Raised in Ontario, Canada - was ten years old when he first saw Elvis on television. 'I'm gonna do that', he cried out. That day he wrote his first song.
Thirty-five years and thousands of songs later, Fred Eaglesmith is a singer and guitarist with a substantial group of extremely loyal fans, a celebrity in the small alternative country music scene. There's not a single bar or club on the North American continent, where he hasn't performed yet, either solo or with his band 'The Flying Squirrels'.

The 'farm boy' of strict Reformed upbringing, blessed with great talent for songwriting, hasn't strayed from his roots. He is a hero for those who recognise themselves in his lyrics: about poor farmers, racing trains, ramshackle trucks and love affairs full of misunderstanding. He feels no need to become a star. Due to his intensive travelling, Fred has become an open-minded, self-willed and witty observer.
