I really enjoyed the show I haven't seen you gentlemen in years the last time I actually saw you was in San Diego many many years ago we were both changing in the Alcatel hotel getting ready to do a show there you may not remember me but I surely remember you let me tell you you guys were awesome Aaron love and all the rest of you but the bottom line to it is that I'm so glad to see that you are still going you're still living doing things with your music on the positive side and I thank you so very much as for myself I'm done now as Rita Oliver vocalist of R&B jazz I've been in the business just as long as you I maybe a little longer I don't know LOL but the fact of the matter is is that I'm still singing to I retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in 2018 after I did 32 years with them but I also entertained while I was working at the veterans Administration as well seeing dignitaries from Washington DC but as an overall I have two albums out and I'm working on a third and possibly a fourth one but it is so good to see some of my old friends who I haven't seen in many many years and I'm very proud of you sticking in there in spite of all of the issues and changes that have gone on and the musical entertainment industry it is totally unbelievable and I do admit I have despised discussed upset with this guy they called Diddy he has really ruined our reputation but as far as you gentlemen please keep going enjoy and I hope we get a chance to work on a show together somewhere down the line as far as I'm concerned music is my life it has been for many many years it's been my good times my bad times my in-between times let me tell you because I was a trained by the United States Marines and the United States Navy to take care of our veterans as well and believe me that I do not play with because our veterans have put up with a lot of shi cocky LOL and I don't think people really paid attention to our guys as well as now our women but I still see life is sweet I've been knowing Charlie Wilson and the Gap band a little longer than you because I remember Charlie Wilson when they were the whole trio Charlie and his brothers and we used to kick it in the Bay area San Francisco area off and on and Sly Stone was in that area as well as a radio personality personal ksol radio out of San Francisco so as you can see I've been around a long time and you know what we are only as young as we feel we can sit back and look at some of this stuff that go on and just shake our heads because some of the stuff is totally unbelievable how people have disrupted the musical industry the film industry and they have modern-day equipment smile but take care and joy and I hope to see you soon be safe okay this is Rita Oliver speaking vocalist of R&B jazz AKA my birth name more with the pronunciation is Occerita= OAKARITA M OLIVER. The Stylistics Biography
Stylistics were formed in Philadelphia, PA in 1966 from two groups, The Percussions" and "The Monarchs". When members from each group were drafted, the remaining members, under the guidance of their English teacher Beverly Hamilton, joined forces and changed the name to "The Stylistics". After working locally for a few years, the group was approached by Bill Perry, who asked if they’d be interested in recording. Their first song, "You're a Big Girl Now" was recorded at Virtue Recording Studio in Philadelphia. The song was written by their guitarist at the time, Robert "Doc" Douglas and Road Manager, Marty Bryant. The song was soon picked up in the tri-state area, and before long, it became a The #1 hit in Philadelphia and other cities.
Interested in promoting the record nationally, Bill Perry contacted Avco Records and made a deal. After the success of "You're A Big Girl Now", Avco wanted to follow up with an album release. Hit veteran producer Tom Bell was contacted and was hired to produce the group's first album titled "The Stylistics", and from that album came "Stop, Look, Listen to your Heart", "You Are Everything" and "Betcha By Golly Wow". The success of this album was phenomenal. The ball continued to roll with the release of their second album titled "Round Two". The Stylistics were becoming known as the Philly group with the sweet love songs.
Herbert Murrell and Airrion Love are the remaining original members of The Stylistics. Friends since junior high school, Herb and Airrion have managed to keep their institution of 70's music alive. It was thought to be the end of The Stylistics following the departure of their original lead singer, but as in life, THE SHOW MUST GO ON. Their new lead singer, Grammy Award winning recording artist, Barrington “Bo” Henderson, began his professional career with groups such as The Dramatics and Lakeside. Later in his career, Bo Henderson became lead singer of the world-renowned group, The Temptations, and was featured on their album Phoenix Rising, which went on to become almost double platinum. He was also a vocalist on the album Ear-Resistible, and helped win The Temptations a Grammy Award. The Stylistics are honored to welcome Barrington “Bo” Henderson to the group, and look forward to taking their musical journey to new heights.
