Home Grown Biography

Home Grown is a pop-punk band from Orange County, California, known for their infectious melodies, humorous and relatable lyrics, and high-energy live performances. Formed in 1994, the band quickly carved out a niche in the burgeoning pop-punk scene with a sound that combined playful irreverence and heartfelt emotion. Throughout their original run, Home Grown released three studio albums—That's Business, Act Your Age, and Kings of Pop—along with numerous EPs and compilation appearances, such as their memorable contributions to Punk Goes Metal. Their fan-favorite tracks like "Surfer Girl" “Give It Up” and "You're Not Alone" became anthems for a generation of fans navigating the ups and downs of youth.
Home Grown built a reputation as road warriors, performing on Warped Tour stages and alongside scene heavyweights like Blink-182 and New Found Glory. Their sophomore album, Act Your Age (1998), showcased their growth as songwriters, while 2002's Kings of Pop saw them embrace a slicker, more polished sound that expanded their audience. Despite their growing popularity, the band announced an amicable split in 2005, leaving a lasting legacy as one of the quintessential pop-punk acts of the late '90s and early 2000s.
In June 2024, after nearly two decades apart, Home Grown announced they were reuniting to open for The Starting Line, marking their triumphant return to the stage. The overwhelmingly positive reception to their performance reaffirmed their enduring impact on the pop-punk community. Buoyed by this momentum, they headlined a sold-out show at the Glass House in Pomona, California, playing one of the most extended sets in the band’s history.
The band’s current lineup features mainstay members Adam Lohrbach (bass and vocals), John "Johnee Trash" Tran (guitar and vocals), Dan Reynolds (guitar), and Darren Reynolds (drums). With plans to continue playing shows into 2025 and beyond, Home Grown has reignited their passion for performing and connected with a new generation of pop-punk enthusiasts. The band aims to balance nostalgia with fresh energy as it looks ahead, ensuring its music and legacy remain as vibrant as ever. It will be performing at Slam Dunk in May 2025.
