About this concert
Dance With a Stranger kommer tilbake til Rockefeller lørdag 13. september!

Dance With a Stranger Biography

Dance With A Stranger is a Norwegian pop group formed in Bergen in 1984 by vocalist Øivind "Elg" Elgenes (born 1958) and guitarist and songwriter Frode Alnæs (born 1959) from Kristiansund, bassist Yngve Moe (1957–2013) from Tromsø, and drummer Bjørn Jenssen (born 1959) from Bodø. The latter three were known from various jazz-inspired groups. The group made their single debut in 1986. The debut album Dance With A Stranger (1988) was a great success and earned them a Spellemann Award, largely thanks to the huge radio hit "Everyone Needs A Friend".

Subsequently, they toured extensively both in Norway and several other countries, and with their musical skill and soul-inspired style, they gained a large audience. The follow-up album To (1989) was an even greater success, with 200,000 copies sold. Its single "The Invisible Man" topped the charts in Norway, as did "Long December Nights" (1994). "The Invisible Man" also became a hit in Germany.

The band went on hiatus in 1994 but resumed collaboration in 1997 and was sporadically active until their farewell tour in 2014.
The band has had several comebacks, and each time, the joy and energy of playing live have returned!

Dance With A Stranger, one of Norway's best-selling bands of all time, celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2024! The anniversary will be celebrated throughout the year with an extensive tour of Norway and new music!
