El vibrafonista Stefon Harris egresado de la Manhattan School of Music en donde se formó como músico clásico y con la firme intención de unirse a la Filarmónica de Nueva York hasta que escuchó la música de Charlie Parker quien lo condujo hacia el jazz. Durante la década de 1990 grabó con Charlie Hunter y Steve Turre. Firmó con Blue Note Records,sello que publicó su álbum debut "A Cloud of Red Dust"(1998).Su segundo álbum "Black Action Figure", fue nominado a un premio Grammy. En 2001 se presentó con el pianista Jacky Terrason en el Village Vanguard de Nueva York y ese año grabó con Terrason el álbum "Kindred".Con su album "The Grand Unification Teory" (2003) ganó el premio Martin E. Segal de jazz at Lincoln Center. En abril de 2009,Stefon Harris encabezó la programación del "Orange County Performing Arts Center" del condado de Orange (California).En 2011 grabó el álbum "Ninety Miles con el saxofonista David Sánchez y el trompetista Christian Scott.
