BOILER ROOM Biography

Former Roadrunner and Tommy Boy / Warner Brothers recording artists Boiler Room are back! Originally formed in 1996 in New York City, Boiler Room released their self-titled, independent album that same year produced by future Guns N' Roses guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal. The addition of Rob Caggiano (Anthrax, Volbeat) in 1998 began a creative writing relationship between him and singer Chris Lino and elevated the band’s sound and performance. 1999 saw the band opening for nationally recognized acts along the East Coast, including Type O Negative, Life of Agony, Clutch and Static-X, helping them catch the attention of renowned NYC radio station 92.3 K-ROCK.
Record labels also began to take notice, and the band was initially signed to RoadRunner Records in 2000. However, internal music industry dealings found the band on the Tommy Boy / Warner Bros roster, where they released ‘Can’t Breathe’ in 2000, becoming a part of the blossoming nu-metal genre. The band subsequently promoted the album touring the U.S. with Disturbed, Mudvayne, and Kittie and embarked on a European tour, headlining clubs throughout Germany, Italy, Belgium, and the U.K.
The band disbanded in 2001, with Caggiano leaving to join Anthrax and the other members dispersing into various projects. Chris Lino connected with Mike Orlando (Category 7, Noturnall. Adrenaline Mob), and the two formed Out of Body, compiling a 5-song demo. Before gaining critical traction, the project dissolved amicably with Lino leaving to pursue a career outside of music and Orlando eventually moving on to form Adrenaline Mob.
The two remained friends, and in 2022, Orlando reached out to Chris and suggested that he consider re-recording and re-releasing some of Boiler Room’s previously released songs. Orlando explains: “Chris and I always stayed in touch, and when I heard him sing all these years later, it was quite apparent that his vocals were stronger than ever! I started telling him he should get back in the game.” Chris agreed, selecting four songs off 2000’s Can't Breathe, one from the self-titled album and a track from the Out of Body demo. At this time, Chris was introduced to a mutual friend of Orlando's, bass player Pete Rizzi (Who on Earth). Pete and Chris wrote two songs together to round out the 8-track album ‘Rectify,’ which will be released in 2025. Orlando comments: “This album sounds like a freight train with no end in stop! Absolutely killer!”
All the songs were co-produced, mixed, mastered, and engineered by Mike Orlando at his Sonic Stomp Studio in New York City. Jason Bittner (Shadows Fall, Category 7, Overkill) was brought in to play drums on the album while Orlando laid down the rhythm guitars. Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal guest appears on the title track 'Rectify' laying down a handful of his truly fantastic guitar solos. "When Chris asked me to perform on 'Rectify,' I said, ‘For you, absolutely.’ I love that he is back writing, recording, and performing. He sounds better than ever and the songs, old and new, have such power and groove." Rizzi laid down the bass, and current guitarist Nick Seditious (Soraia, Out of Exile) performed solos on select tracks. The band recruited Tommy Spano (Sekond Skyn, A Pale Horse Named Death, Corey Glover) on drums to round out the current lineup.
When asked what made him bring Boiler Room back, Lino explains: "I felt that some of the songs from the old Boiler Room days didn't get a fair shot and I wanted to give some of them their proper due. These songs are as relevant now as they were then. Caggiano and I wrote these songs together and we had a great chemistry. I also have been inspired to write new material and that creative spark is alive and well. The creative atmosphere of this lineup is meshing very well, and we already have additional material. Lyrically, I have more to express.”
