Jamie Duffy Biography
Jamie Duffy is a 22 year old musician and songwriter from Ireland. Having grown up in the small border village of Glaslough into a very musical family, Jamie blends traditional, popular and classical influences into his music, to create sounds that are beautiful, evocative and unique.
His debut single, a piano piece titled Solas (which means ‘light’ in Irish), is the biggest streaming debut song from an Irish artist since Take Me To Church by Hozier.
Jamie recently collaborated with County Mayo cellist Patrick Dexter on the track Into The West. The song draws inspiration from the wild shores of the Irish Atlantic coast. Remembering the thousands who departed from Ireland in search of a better life on the other side of the world, and also reflecting on the glorious yet haunted wilderness of the landscape they left behind.
Jamie's single Réalta is a rich, uplifting instrumental piano piece that celebrates Dark Sky celestial gazing in the wee small hours, lost in the darkness of the Irish countryside.
Jamie's new single Eyrie is the first track from his collaboration with Swedish neo-classical composer Peter Sandberg. The track was co-written in London and recorded in Uppsala, Sweden. Eyrie has a beautiful cinematic feel, featuring Jamie's haunting Irish low-whistle and Peter's sweeping, orchestral arrangement for 18 string players.
