The Game Biography
In 2001, Jayceon "The Game" Taylor was shot and spent 3 days in a coma. He claims that old-school rap helped him to recover, and that's why he turned to rap.
A protege of rap's pioneer Dr. Dre, The Game represents the city he was born and spent his childhood - Compton, CA.
The Game has released three albums the most recent of which, L.A.X. was released on August 26, 2008
"The Documentary" (Aftermath/G-Unit/Interscope), the debut album from The Game, has been heralded by some as the arrival of the most significant West Coast gangsta rapper since Snoop Dogg more than a decade earlier. With guest spots from the likes of 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes, as well as producers ranging from Dr. Dre to Kanye West to Just Blaze to Timbaland, "The Documentary" folds a variety of production methods into a critically acclaimed album.
"The Doctor's Advocate" (Geffen) is The Game's second album, selling 380,000 copies in it's first week. It was generally well received by rap critics, many noting an improvement in The Game's rapping ability.
The Doctors Advocate has been certified officially platinum by the RIAA. It has sold 1.8 million in the US and 3 million worldwide. Guest spots include Kanye West, will.i.am, Nas, Xzibit,Busta Rhymes and others. The Game continues his career with a typically West Coast gangsta rap style which remains largely tame throughout Doctor's Advocate with the hardest hitting track being its first released single, "It's Okay (One Blood)". featuring reggae artist Junior Reid. The second was "Let's Ride (Strip Club"), produced by Scott Storch. The third single was "Wouldn't Get Far" featuring and produced by Kanye West.
