About this concert
An Immersive Musical Experience Earth Unwrapped Manchester Camerata, violinist Daniel Pioro, and musicians from the Royal Academy of Music join forces for a radical reimagining of the concert experience — a two-hour spatial takeover of the Kings Place foyers, followed by an intimate performance in the sublime acoustics of Hall One. Wander through a sonic landscape shaped by James Tenney’s In a Large, Open Space, a modern masterpiece that places the listener at its heart. As you move, the music shifts — a living, breathing sound world that reveals itself differently from every angle. The journey culminates with two profound works: Pēteris Vasks’ Lonely Angel, a transcendent meditation for solo violin and strings, and Catherine Lamb’s Tone/noise (emergence patterns), a luminous exploration of resonance and stillness. More than a concert — this is a deep listening experience. Come curious. ‘In a Large, Open Space is the most vital music I can think of in the current cultural age of over-saturation and meaningless artistic gestures. In Tenney’s music lies a much needed truth, I am convinced of it, and I am grateful to King’s Place for inviting me to explore and look for it.’ – Daniel Pioro Supported by Cockayne Grants for the Arts, a Donor Advised Fund, held at The Prism Charitable Trust. This event will last approximately 2 hours, without an interval.
