About this concert
Please note: Due to international travel issues, the October 9, 2024 performance of Ebo Taylor and Pat Thomas will be postponed to May 16, 2025, with a second date added of May 17, 2025. This is part of Ebo Taylor's farewell tour in North America. The legendary guitarist, composer, and producer Ebo Taylor is responsible for some of the greatest music in Ghana’s history—and in history, period. With a career spanning over half a century, his influence on African music is undeniable, from his early days playing ticklish highlife with bands like The Stargazers to collaborating with Afrobeat innovator Fela Kuti. Taylor brought together traditional Ghanaian music with American jazz and funk, as well as the unstoppable groove of Afrobeat, on albums like Ebo Taylor & The Pelikans and Tower Nyame. With longtime collaborator Pat Thomas—himself one of Ghana’s most beloved singers—he presents a soul-stirring exploration of rhythms and melodies from throughout his storied career.

This was not a typical Ebo Taylor concert…due to the reality that he’s 89 and now wheelchair bound. Hence, he was not able to play his amazing guitar licks or dance with us. That was done by his sons and other band mates. But we were all happy to be there for his “America’s Farewell Tour”…and the crowd expressed that with spontaneous applauses. I think most of us were determined to see him and show our appreciation…perhaps for the last time.
