Tim MacMillar is well known as a guitarist from the band Protest The Hero but it is less apparent that he is also a piano. He started playing piano at the age of 5 and has been playing music for 30 years. With his band, he has released 5 full length albums and 2 EPs. Protest The Hero has been recognized with a Juno for their album Volition as well as received a gold record for their number one debuting album Fortress (2008). As a pianist, he has written and performed 3 interludes that have been released on Protest The Hero record. He has also recorded 2 solo piano songs which he has independently released. He has also performed on Parkway Drive’s album Ire (2015) on the track Writings on the Wall as well on USS’s album Einsteins of Consciousness (2021) on the track Light Army.


Outside of music, he continues to be an advocate for artists and their finances with his company Aye Aye Music which is a business management company with a specialty in the music industry. Additionally, he promotes mental health awareness. As someone who struggles with bipolar disorder he has openly discussed some of the challenges and wants to continue to help with awareness around this and other mental health challenges.
