4/12: Unearth, Lacuna Coil, In Flames, MH
Overall experience: C-
Best Set: Machine Head
Least Fav Set: Lacuna Coil
Most Disappointing: In Flames
Highlight moment: "Halo" Encore
Best Factor: Rob Flynn
Overall, great efforts by the bands that was tainted by bad sound in the venue. During one of my favorite songs from unearth ("My Will Be Done"), Buzz's sweet sweeping arpeggios were completely inaudible! Also, In Flames's set was ruined by a loud and awful bass tone that had little to no distinguishable notes. Even, Machine Head's sound was a rough start but luckily fixed itself half way through the set. The lead guitar player, not Flynn, was too quiet in alot of parts. However, sound during songs like "Locust" and "Halo" proved to be badass parts of the set when the guitars were finally loud enough. On a positive note, all the bands brought great energy and stage presence as well as performance. The epic "Halo" encore was a great way to finish out the show on a positive note.

Great show, as always for Machine Head, they will always be the bulldozer that crushes all. My first time seeing Fear Factory and they crushed it, the new vocalist fits really well in this band and nails every song. I unfortunately missed Orbit Culture, but everyone I asked said they absolutely killed it. The House of Blues is still my favorite venue for shows like this. Sound quality is great, and it's intimate without feeling too cramped. Overall, great energy that night, it was one hell of a time.

These guys were AWESOME! First time seeing them play live. The lead singer’s voice is amazing, dude has an intense & impressive stage presence. Fear Factory & the 2 bands playing before had several pretty good songs too.
Had a balcony/reserved seat & it was cool watching the band-crowd interaction. I’m kinda a smaller female & nearly all metal concerts I end up with some super tall dude in front of me so I often only see the back of stage & props. But if they come back to play the Filmore (or a venue like it) I’m definitely aiming for a spot at the rail.

Über Machine Head
Undisputed masters of murderous riffs, pugnacious grooves and ferocious hooks since 1991, Machine Head are long established as one of the most influential and incendiary bands in the metal world. Exploding into the world’s consciousness with 1994’s seminal Burn My Eyes album, the now legendary Oakland crew brutishly redefined what it meant to be heavy, incorporating a wild array of influences into some of the sharpest and most brutal metal anthems ever written. Nearly three decades later, the band founded and led by vocalist/guitarist Robb Flynn has amassed an extraordinary catalogue of classic albums, while routinely enhancing an already formidable reputation as one of heavy music’s most powerful and relentless live bands.
From the controversial but hugely successful experiments of 1999’s The Burning Red to the globe-conquering might and bombast of 2006’s The Blackening (which saw them tour the world for four full years, supporting Metallica along the way) Machine Head have never stagnated creatively or taken their foot from the artistic accelerator. Recent years have seen them forge an ever more independent and defiant path, not least through their much celebrated An Evening With... shows, wherein fans are treated to three hours of non-stop Head music with no compromise. With albums like 2014’s Bloodstone & Diamonds and 2018’s diverse, destructive and politically-supercharged Catharsis, Machine Head have continued their exhilarating evolution, while never losing the furious spirit of their old school, underground roots. Impervious to trends and proud to stand alone: Machine Head is still the bulldozer that crushes all!
