Citadel

Citadel are an exciting 7 piece band, blending the soul of Latin, Funk, Hip-Hop and World music into one fresh new musical language. Loved by audiences and musicians alike, Citadel dance their way through their unique musical landscape bringing everybody with them, for a riotous night of good music, storytelling and dancing. Will you follow the fortress?

Citadel first met in Northamptonshire during the summer of 2010.
Inspired by the music of ‘The Cat Empire’ lead singer Matthew Churcher, sought to bring together likeminded musicians to create their own sound and test the edges of musical genres. 


Knowing each other from the music scene, the 7 were quickly assembled and went to test the waters. During their first jam, they wrote the song ‘Chameleon’ a strong litmus test of what was to come.
Since then Citadel have been writing, recording and gigging across the Country, building a strong and loyal fanbase.

In 2018 they collaborated with the acclaimed ‘Jazz Colossus Big Band’ to launch Citadels debut album ‘Last Tango in Paradise’ Following the success of the event, Citadel were invited to play at Latitude Festival - opening the BBC Music Introducing Stage.

They continue to go from strength to strength, writing and playing the music that they love.
