About Triumph
Triumph is a Canadian rock band that was popular in the late 1970s through the 1980s. Triumph began building their reputation across North America as a live band, peaking in the early 1980s as an import before interest gradually declined. Today, the power trio has been largely forgotten outside of Canada, except for its fan-base in Texas.
The band was formed by Toronto music veterans Gil Moore (b. 1951) (drums/vocals) and Mike Levine (b. 1949) (bass/keyboards), after meeting talented guitarist/singer/songwriter Rik Emmett (b. 1953) in a manager's office in Toronto in 1975.
Rik Emmet left the group in 1988, Rick Santers and Phil Xenidis were fill in-s for a while, but Triumph was never the same with Emmet. It was in 1998 that Triumph came back to life with Emmet finally deciding to join the band for a 20th anniversary US tour.
Triumph have released 14 albums, their latest studio being Edge Of Excess in 1993 and Live at the US Festival in 2003.
