Charlie Barnes

Charlie Barnes is a Midlands-based musician working in multiple disciplines. He has forged a modest career as a solo artist releasing three albums with Sony Music’s alternative rock imprint ‘Century Media’, along with last year’s well received ‘The Heart of the Home’ album, self-released and funded with the support of a dedicated Patreon community. Alongside his solo endeavours, he has spent the last 10 years as a key part of pop band Bastille’s output as a session musician both on stage and in the studio, as well as being at the production helm for two tracks from the 2022 album ‘Give Me The Future + Dreams Of The Past’ and two from 2024’s ‘Bastille Presents: Ampersand’. One of the highlights of his time with Bastille was his work as the arranger and musical director for the band’s ‘MTV Unplugged’ performance and ensuing live album. He has also worked on music for television, having been the co-producer of the song ‘Eurydice’ from the hit Netflix’s show ‘Kaos’, and provided guitar and backing vocals for the Tim Minchin-penned ‘Good Day Sunshine’ from ‘Eric’, another popular Netflix series. He composed and performed three tracks for the Abbey Road Masters ‘Emotive Acoustic’ album, which have been used on TV shows such as the BBC’s ‘The Repair Shop: On The Road’. He provided the piano work for Mike Vennart’s (Oceansize, Biffy Clyro, Empire State Bastard) third solo album ‘In The Dead, Dead Wood’, and backing vocals for American indie rock band Joywave’s single ‘Cyn City 2000’. He maintains, however, that his crowning achievement was The Cure’s Robert Smith sharing Charlie’s cover of the band’s most recent album opener ‘Alone’ on both The Cure’s Facebook page and his personal Twitter account.
