Earnest

19 year old, Queens, New York native Earnest, started out with a passion for poetry. While in his sophomore year in high school, a close friend gifted Earnest a journal & created a personalized mixtape for his birthday, which sparked his creative interest to experiment with Hip-Hop. Later in his Senior year of High School, Earnest met fellow school mate Andros, together they teamed up to form a creative collective called Open Room. After creating a viral freestyle series called “Moment of Earnesty,” Earnest dropped his Open Room produced ep Kato, January 2019. Earnest showcases his rap prowess with singles like “Gold Chain” and “Hot Sauce,” then shows his wide musical range singing on songs like “October” and “Her.” 2019 is sure to a break out year for Earnest and his Open Room cohorts.
KATO by EARNEST
The name “KATO” in an old African language means second of twins. That’s why this project is inspired by the definition because Earnest is and alter ego of me. This means both earnest and Stephen has minds of their own. This, in the long run, makes them but heads because they both want different things. Earnest wants the lavish lifestyle, women, clothes, and money. While Stephen wants a simple life as an artist and just to be loved. So Kato will walk you through both of these artists preferred sound and expectations on life.
