Blackway

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Ghana, and currently living in Baldwin Ny. For as long as i can remember music has been just as an essential part of my life as food and water and so it will remain. Some of my influences include great artists such as Common, Lauryn Hill, Jay-Z, Bob Marley, and Little Brother. These artists have also contributed to my style of music. With very little singing capabilities, Hip Hop just always seemed like my thing. As a result of that ive been freestyling since i was in 4th grade, writing music since the 8th and began taking it seriously after moving to Baldwin in 2007. After moving to Baldwin I gained a lot of friends who are the ones who support and encourage my music today. Coincidently one of my closest friends, Chris Mauldin, is where my stage name, Blackway, originated from. My friends always called me the darkest one in the group and after a while I became attached to the idea. Chris Maudlin started to call me Blackway and I felt that it was appropriate to fit my persona. The segment "way" is created through spelling my real name backwards. Currently I have been makin progress through working with various artists in Long Island and Brooklyn. I have became apart of a group called HiLo. This group contains talent ranging from instruments to amazing vocalists and rappers. In Long Island I have a movement known as Mass Effect. Mass Effect started through networking with close friends and others who all hold the same aspirations about music as I do. It stands for "men about searching success" who are extremely versatile in the music field.
