Since forming over a decade ago Norwegian pop-quartet donkeyboy have topped charts, won hearts and awards with their distinctive sound and catchy hooks. Debut single Ambitions made pop history, and they've kept the momentum burning with massively successful singles such as Sometimes, City Boy, Triggerfinger and Crazy Something Normal.
The hits, and albums Caught In A Life (2009), Silver Moon (2012) and Lost (2016) have accumulated an impressive 32 platinum awards. Despite having their big breakthrough before the event of streaming, donkeyboy still boast over 200 million streams in Norway alone, a sum made even more impressive when you realise it’s approximately 40 times larger than the nations' population of 5 million...
Kaleidoscope is a refreshing collision of indie rock and synthpop, as an airy soundscape slowly builds over a gorgeous beat of dreamy synths. Modern, but analog, the track, in part, owes its existence to a 1983 keyboard the Sundberg brothers found in their parents attic and the purchase of "a bunch of analog synthesizers".
"Using the old instruments was inspiring, and on Kaleidoscope we left the digital plug-in and went analog." explains Cato. This mix of old and new is reflected in the music, with a certain timelessness added to its pop DNA. "The sound and feel of Kaleidoscope is a step towards a new style, a next chapter in the donkeyboy sound"
