The While

Energized and inspired after the Popsicle reunion show in the summer of 2023, singer and guitarist Fredrik Norberg, who for the last few years has focused on his Swedish pop project Bergen, wrote a couple of new indie pop songs reminiscent of his old 90s band. With no band to play them, he contacted The Genuine Fakes (whose frontman Johan Bergqvist had joined the Popsicle reunion as guitarist/backup singer) and asked if they would be interested in joining him to form a new project. Being huge fans of Popsicle (even naming their band after Fredrik-penned Genuin Fake) they didn’t need much convincing.

After the first rehearsal just before Christmas, it was clear that this musical union was a great match, and over the course of the next couple of months a whole album’s worth of songs had been written. The first single ”Flicking Through” was released in spring 2024, and you can look forward to an album before the end of the year.
