With millions of online streams to their name, you might assume Salt Lake City indie-rock band Blue Rain Boots has been gigging for decades. Although they shroud their jarring lyricism with sophisticated – yet friendly – riffs, you couldn’t be more wrong in that assumption; in fact, frontman and lead singer Simon Griffen is just eighteen-years-old. Completely independent, the band is an anomaly, having casually played alongside their genre’s juggernauts (Ritt Momney, Death Cab For Cutie, and The National Parks).
