About DJ J. Sanchez
My first music experience as a DJ was on the radio (Bel Valley Radio, in Luxembourg) bringing the newest sounds promotions. I then start Djing in 1996 with vinyls in different bars and clubs in Luxembourg city. It was a great time with a lot of venues. It lasts for 7 years.
Then I took a few years break, life, you know. But I’m back in Luxembourg since 2009, bringing with me some nice tribal drums style and progressive beats.
I Live in Luxembourg and I’m following what’s the Spanish LGTB circuit is providing in terms of sound esthetics. I definitely take my inspiration from it and most of my sounds can be qualified as circuit tracks, which suits perfectly for any bar or clubs for any kind of clubbing audience I think.
I had the opportunity to perform at a lot of LGBT+ nights in Europe, from Brussels to Rome, from Paris to Madrid, etc. I definitely feel lucky and honored. I was the headline for Paris Bear Pride, did Rome’s Bear Mondays a few times and I had a residency in Bruxelles for two years.
Even if my preference goes to house, tribal and circuit sounds, I understand that being a DJ is not just go through a predefined playlist with the sync button on. I am always looking to the crowd, how people are reacting to the sounds I play, how people feel about this transition, or this effect.
Over the year, I also expand my knowledge of that kind of implicit mechanism during a gig to the light show. Being a team with light jockey is very important. Light and sounds come together to create the perfect canvas to let the crowd enjoy the moment. That’s why I start investing time and money in meaningful partnerships, growing a small team of technicians, and learning myself more about all the other night actors' roles and how we can collaborate and benefit each other.
My goal is to always deliver the best performance for the people here, should it be at a festival in Barcelona or in a club in Luxembourg, my home country.
