Rock and roll passion mixed with a heart of country gold! Rod Black’s musical journey mirrors that of Kid Rock and Aaron Lewis. Rod Black was the lead singer of Jet Black Stare who reached 26 on the US Billboard Rock Charts. Black has also seen success when he went back to his country roots reaching top 20 on the Canadian Billboard charts.
Rod has shared the stage with country acts such as Dierks Bentley, Chris Young, Dallas Smith, Meghan Patrick, as well as national rock artists Three Doors Down, Stained & Shinedown.
Rod Black grew up on vintage country classics from southern rock pioneers to the original country outlaws.
In 2017, Black got the attention of Bristol Records who receive worldwide distribution through SONY/The Orchard. Bristol Records quickly signed him to a multi-year contract. Black’s stage presence and his experience with touring is second to none, while his drive and passion for music is simply unstoppable.
In 2018, Bristol Records released Black’s top 20 Canadian Billboard single, “Keepin’ On”, to the US market. This proved to be successful as it reached top 80 on the US Country Music Row Charts. Black spent all of 2018 touring with his labelmates throughout the United States which included Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. They also performed in parts of Canada.
In 2019, Bristol Records released “Good Times” which was produced by Dan Swinimer and co-written by Rod Black, Chris Labelle (Rivertown Saints) and Dan Swinimer. The song hit #1 on SiriusXM Canada in less than 3 weeks following the release and stayed at that position for and incredible 16+ weeks.
Prior to signing with Bristol Records, Rod Black spent a number of years living between Nashville and Texas following the success of “Keepin’ On”. Black spent his time there working with some of the most accredited producers and songwriters, while developing his songwriting skills.
