About Nelski
Nelski: Making it Live Quirky & rare individuality are elements that make up this skilled character. It’s these fundamental things that have gained this artist support across the dance music board, with Carl Cox & deadmau5 as examples of the wide spectrum of talent embracing his idiosyncratic sound. Summer 2010’s ‘Body Pop’ was Nelski’s first track, showcasing his inventive production habits. Habits that crafted a sound heavily supported across all of Radio 1, with Pete Tong crowning ‘Body Pop‘ as the opening track of his 2010 ‘Wonderland’ compilation album. Alongside copious amounts of chart spots, ‘Body Pop’ went on to be featured on further compilation albums, making his first release a massive success. From then on, industry eyes intently focused on his next moves. Since, Nelski has delivered tracks that prove his consistency as a producer, showcasing his diverse sound & individual method. ‘Colours’ & ‘Minimal Life’ with Chris Lake pulled in support from dance music giants across the board, with further props coming from deadmau5 who used the track in his 2010 summer sets during his residency on the Mixmag terrace for Cream, Ibiza. Capital FM jumped at the chance to exclusively preview Nelski’s June 2011 release, ‘Dancing’ on their Weekend Players feature. Nelski’s greatest attribute when it comes to production is his flair for improvisation, which is exactly how he learned to play the keys on blues & jazz scales. As a result, he doesn’t read or recite pieces but constructs his works through pure feeling. Taking influences from his samba background, percussion is an obvious crucial element in the music he creates, using the Korg Wavedrum during live shows to project the sounds that neatly compliment Nelski’s most prominent factor, his voice. Summer 2011 saw the release of the eagerly anticipated Nelski Live show, bringing together the main elements that complete a Nelski track - vocals, percussion and unforgettable hooks. To commemorate the launch of the live show, Nelski released his debut artist album on Rising Music entitled 'What Ever Makes You Happy'. The album was designed specifically to be replicated in the live arena, effectively bringing the fun of the studio to the heart of the dancefloor. Released in September 2011, the extended player was well received and gained acclaim from industry people and heads alike. Nelski has carefully developed an imaginative sound that’s been crafted into a sharp, interesting & engaging live show, sure to catch the attention of a global audience. His musical ethos of “it's about the here & now” is the perfect foundation for an artist that does just that, delivers in real time for the here & now! Having built this musical platform, it was time for Nelski to put a face to the name and embark on a global mission. A mission that would see him feature at events in Portugal, Philippines, Holland, Sweden, Miami (WMC), Spain and the UK, playing alongside characters like deadmau5, Michael Woods, James Zabiela, John Dahlback, Moguai, Westbam & Eric Prydz. Although his skills as a DJ have brought him many admirers, his live shows are widely divergent. Live is where his passion lies. It’s here where his artistry shines through, and where Nelski makes his mark as something that little bit different. Using live vocal, percussion & keyboards his tracks are played at that very moment, making each performance refreshingly unique. Nelski has produced an intricate show that requires skill, demands full attention & confidence to execute. Fast forward to Summer 2012 and Nelski is quite simply unstoppable. With an array of original productions cementing his reputation as the future hero of house music, Nelski has also opened up his sound by collaborating with some of the industries main players including John Dahlback, Dirty Vegas and Felguk. In addition to this, Nelski teamed up with Seamus Haji to recreate the Chemical Brothers classic ‘Hey Boy, Hey Girl’. Determined not to copy the trends of others, and produce 'just another' bootleg, Nelski elected to re-sing the vocals and re-play the instruments to totally reface the original and bring it in order for the sound of now. The endless days and nights in the studio are now paying some serious dancefloor dividends. If all this wasn't enough Nelski was selected by DJ Mag to co-headline their off Sonar event with Catz & Dogz in Barcelona. This headline show was supported with a full feature in the magazine for Nelski on what was an impressive debut - DJ Mag wholeheartedly stating "Nelski delivers! Huge energy, and an infectious style". From here, Nelski’s fan base continues to develop tenfold and further European live show appearances at Nature One Festival in Germany and Soundtropolis in Poland are indications that Nelski is not content on just being a rising star. He is a man on a mission to the top and in case you hadn’t heard... His name is Nelski! “Nelski has got ‘it’ in abundance. If I was a betting man, I would put my money on Nelski - he is about to blow! Watch this space.” Mark Knight, Toolroom Records "This (‘Minimal Life’) has been breaking down the walls for me; it was like magic seeing it work the dance floor at the Space Ibiza opening party..."
