Fernando Saunders

Fernando Saunders has always had a singular presence in the music industry. A world class, virtuoso bass player, singer, songwriter and producer, Saunders first came to international prominence as one of the core players with the renowned funk/pop artist, Hamilton Bohannon, and then as a key member of the pioneering rock/jazz ensemble, The Jeff Beck/Jan Hammer Group. In the early '80s, Saunders started long-term collaborations as a player, producer and frequent co-songwriter, with the esteemed urban rockers Lou Reed and Marianne Faithfull, and world beat musician Kip Hanrahan.

One of the world's most highly sought after studio and touring musicians, Saunders has recorded and/or performed with a number of renowned musical figures including Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Joan Baez, John McLaughlin / The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Pat Benatar and Heart. Saunders launched his solo career on an Amnesty International tour before a sold-out stadium crowd in Chile. He has since yielded three critically acclaimed, self-produced solo albums, “Cashmere Dreams” (Grudge/BMG), “The Spin” (A&M) and “I Will Break Your Fall” (Summit).

His new album, "Plant A Seed", recorded in New York, Switzerland and the Czech Republic, is a beautiful blend of R&B, pop-rock and folklore. His unique voice, very soulful, telling stories of life’s ups and downs and hopes and that all things in life must end, but the act of planting seeds can give rise to a new beginning.
