About Moses Mo and The Real Cool Band
After Moses Mo of Mother's Finest decided to start writing, recording and producing his songs as a solo artist, he soon realized the the need for a performance band to promote the songs. He began with Kerry Denton, longtime friend and performer in the greater metro Atlanta area. Kerry had performed in a group with Moses for Caroline Aiken, he was also the drummer for the legendary funk rock group Mother's Finest from 2000-2005 in which Moses was an original and founding member of the group. Kerry often recorded drum tracks for the songs that Moses Mo was recording in his home studio. Moses recorded drum tracks from many of his friends and performers throughout the recording process but Kerry being local was the most preferred drummer for the performing group. Mike Long was offered the position of playing bass in the group after having contacted Moses because of his interest in the songs of CARTOON YOU, Moses' debut project, and after Mo's wife had seen him perform with a local group which featuring Bob Beckworth, Van Temple of the Producers and Chris Stone. Mikey's southern soulful sound fit perfectly with the rhythmic jazz riffs of Kerry Denton. ZeroBasement had offered his skills to the recording of Two Ton Message, giving the songs a more distinct and creative sound through his rap verses. Zero's vocal parts brought the space needed for Moses to perform his guitars solos without having to sing also. Soon the rap verses became an integral part of the song as any other instrument and was necessary for the sound of the group. PoiZen EV was added to include that female voice that Moses had become so accustomed to in his career performing with Mother's Finest. PoiZen EV also performed with additional percussion instruments adding another layer to the sound of the songs. The group decided to call themselves The Real Cool Band because Moses was already introducing them as his REALLY COOL BAND to audiences, interviewer's and those who wrote blogs and reviews of the music.
